Bolu Shofowoke scored a hat-trick as the Posh Under 18s progressed into the semi-finals of the PDL Cup.
The Peterborough United Under 18s moved into the semi-final of the PDL Cup after a 4-2 victory over Swindon Town at the idverde Training Ground with striker Bolu Shofowoke continuing his excellent season with a fine hat-trick.
Andre Changunda was also on target, finishing a superb move at the start of extra-time while Rylie Fitzpatrick was dismissed for a miss-timed tackle at the end of the first period of extra-time.
SHOFOWOKE opened the scoring, on seven minutes as he rounded goalkeeper Myers and slotted the ball into an empty net.
The lead was doubled on 21 minutes as SHOFOWOKE finished well after good work from Gbajumo down the left hand side.
On 40 minutes, the visitors reduced the arrears through Kian LARKIN and it was a fine strike from distance, which flew into the top corner.
George Holley saw a powerful drive repelled by the goalkeeper on the stroke of half-time. Mendonca couldn't quite keep a shot down from a Holley free-kick moments after the re-start.
Eddie Fox and Patryk Sykut saw shots blocked before Holley's drive was beaten away by the goalkeeper as Posh pushed for a third goal.
Substitute Changunda swept an effort over the top with his left-foot on 66 minutes with Sykut seeing a goal-bound shot blocked.
On 81 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores as Mendonca could only divert his header past the goalkeeper as a through-ball carried on the wind.
Fox saw a last-gasp header saved as the cup-tie went into extra-time. On 97 minutes, Posh nudged back in front as CHANGUNDA fired home after a superb move which started from deep and involved five of the XI.
A minute before half-time in extra-time, SHOFOWOKE completed his hat-trick, cutting inside from the left before rifling a shot into the bottom corner.
Substitute Rylie Fitzpatrick was dismissed for a poor challenge moments later but Posh saw out their the second half of extra-time without any issues.
