Posh v Cambridge United

How do you top a 5-0 win over your local rivals last season? Score six against them this season.

Peterborough United destroyed local rivals Cambridge United 6-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium with Kwame Poku following up back to back Sky Bet League One Player of the Month successes with his first career hat-trick as well as yet another assist.

The November trophy is already getting worried it will be heading back to PE2 and Poku is very much starting the Posh party right now.

The visitors actually started the game strongly and dominated the early moments of the contest with Dan Nlundulu going close only to be denied by Nick Bilokapic.

On 18 minutes, Jones was denied by goalkeeper Reyes after bursting into space down the left-hand side, but on 24 minutes, the deadlock was broken as Ricky-Jade JONES got the final touch to a delightful Jack Sparkes delivery.

On 32 minutes, Posh doubled the lead and it was another superb move, Mothersille picked out Randall with an excellent reverse pass and his cross was tapped in at the far post by Kwame POKU.

On 38 minutes, it was 3-0 and arguably the move of the game as Randall played the ball into Jones, he showed good hold-up play to bring POKU into play and he did the rest, firing low into the back of the net via the inside of the post.

Posh were awarded a penalty on 42 minutes after a foul on Poku and then Jones and MOTHERSILLE stepped up to coolly convert from 12-yards.

Nlundulu saw a free-kick deflect wide of the target just after the re-start, before Posh added a fifth goal as midfielder Ryan DE HAVILLAND fired home from around the penalty spot after more good play down the right from Poku.

Jones saw a shot deflect over the crossbar after more superb play down the left hand side and Posh should have been awarded a penalty as Odoh was felled by Reyes, but the referee waved away the protests.

Collins was denied by Reyes after letting fly from distance on 77 minute, but the visitors were next on the score-sheet as KAIKAI found the bottom corner from 20-yards.

Bilokapic kept out Bennett by the near post before Posh added a sixth as POKU completed his hat-trick with a low strike that went through the defenders legs and past the keeper to a cap a memorable afternoon.
