Jed Steer

Goalkeeper Jed Steer has re-signed for Posh and put pen to paper on a new two-year contract.

The Club are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Jed Steer has agreed a new two-year contract following the expiry of his existing deal at the end of the current season. Steer, who initially joined the club on a short-term deal on 4th January, saw that deal extended to the end of the last campaign.

He made his debut in our 2-1 victory against Charlton Athletic at the Valley. The former Norwich City and Aston Villa stopper was part of the team who lifted the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at Wembley in April.

The 31-year-old ended the season with 17 Sky Bet League One appearances under his belt and is delighted to be returning to PE2 next season.  A delighted Jed said: "It’s been an incredibly enjoyable six months for me here and I must thank the Club and the manager for bringing me in. I am incredibly pleased I am able to return next season and finish the job we started in the last campaign.

“We wanted to go up to the Championship and hopefully next year we will achieve that goal together. We have a great group of young, hungry players. Going to Wembley this year, to win the trophy and the experience that brings to the group was really beneficial, a great experience. At the end of the day this was a fantastic season, but hopefully next season brings us even more.

“I’ve really got the itch again already; I can’t wait to get going and I’m buzzing to be here.”

Posh Manager Darren Ferguson is delighted that Steer has re-signed with the Club, he said: “It was a really important target for us to re-sign Jed for the coming season. He has been impressive since he arrived back in January and offers our young squad leadership both on and off the pitch given his vast experience. With interest in him from other clubs playing at a higher level I think it’s a massive achievement for the Club that he has decided to stay with us and continue to work towards our targets for the coming campaign and beyond.”
