Joe Tomlinson scored a first half brace as Posh ran out 4-1 winners at Bedford Town.
Peterborough United eased to a 4-1 victory over non-league Bedford Town on Tuesday evening as Darren Ferguson split his squad across two pre-season fixtures.
Joe TOMLINSON opened the scoring in fine style, firing home an unstoppable left-foot free-kick from just outside of the penalty area after Kabongo Tshimanga was felled.
TOMLINSON doubled the lead with a fine strike from the edge of the box as Posh controlled large swathes of the first half in terms of possession with Finn Talley only called upon once to keep the Eagles out.
It didn't take Posh long to extend the advantage after the interval, Ephron MASON-CLARK collecting a raking pass from Josh Knight before lobbing the advancing keeper in expert fashion.
Knight followed Kai Corbett into the book for a foul before Posh made it four as a Tomlinson corner was nodded back across goal by Knight for Emmanuel FERNANDEZ to fire home from close-range.
Tshimanga guided a header wide, Lewis Darlington nodded a David Ajiboye centre wide of the target and there were other half chances for Posh to make it five with Tshimanga seeing an effort rather cruelly ruled out for offside.
Knight was then shown a second yellow card for an apparent foul by the touchline, before the hosts got a late consolation as Trialist E managed to squeeze a header into the bottom corner.
Posh: Talley, O'Connell, Fernandez, Knight, Tomlinson, Marcon (sub Darlington 63min), Collins, Ajiboye, Corbett, Mason-Clark, Tshimanga.
