Despite falling behind at half-time, Posh Women drew with the U’s in their latest pre-season friendly thanks to a brace from Poole’s 16-year-old trialist.
Peterborough United Women drew 2-2 with Cambridge United Women on Thursday evening in their latest pre-season friendly after Trialist B netted a brace in the last minutes at the Premier Plus Stadium.
Posh dominated in the opening minutes of the game including an early opportunity thanks to Kirk’s wonderful through-ball that found Wilshaw, but her strike found the hands of the U’s keeper. Minutes later Kirk attempted another with her left foot, but shot over the crossbar.
The hosts responded with some threatening chances that forced Corry into action, but both their attempts struck the bar.
On 18 minutes, Bennett crossed a promising ball into Pim in the box, but she volleyed her effort over the woodwork.
Cambridge were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes after a foul in the box and converted into the bottom corner.
The home side then doubled their lead on 39 minutes after a Posh clearance was volleyed into the net past Corry. Pim soon sought to react and pushed her way in front of goal but her efforts were saved.
The U’s continued to pressure but only managed to aim straight for the bar for a fourth time in the first half, before Corry punched a close range rebound over the goal.
After the break, Driscoll-King and Pim’s efforts narrowly missed the target before Bale played an inviting ball into Trialist B who saw her shot saved. On 70 minutes, Bale continued to prove a threat to the hosts as she danced through their defence, but she too couldn’t find the back of the net.
Posh equalised on 90 minutes after TRIALIST B bagged her first goal for the team after netting from a tight angle following a fantastic run down the right.
Moments later, TRIALIST B showcased her athleticism once again and flew past the U’s to slot a second home in the bottom corner.
