The PST recently donated £500 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association from sales of the ‘Tommy Robson On The Wing’ book.
The book, written by PST Board members Dene Butler and Ray Cole, was funded by the PST with all profits made going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Tommy Robson Statue Fund.
The idea of the book came about after Tommy was diagnosed with MND in 2019. The authors, with the help of the Posh legend, wrote about Tommy’s life on and off the pitch, recording many stories and anecdotes recounted to them by Tommy.
Tommy did get to read his book in draft form, but sadly he passed away before it was published. It was originally planned to give the money raised by sales of the book to Tommy to help him cope with his everyday battle with the disease, but after he died in October 2020, it was decided to donate the proceeds to the fund set up to commission a statue of Tommy at Posh’s Weston Homes Stadium and the MND Association, who were of great help and support to Tommy and his wife Helen, after his diagnosis.
The book can still be purchased from The Great British Bookshop by clicking on the following link Tommy Robson on the wing.
