The under 18s make the long trip to Cardiff City on Saturday morning as Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s men look to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat.

The Peterborough United under 18s make the trip to the Cardiff International Sports Campus to face Cardiff City in the Professional Development League on Saturday morning (11am) with several youngsters facing the Bluebirds in Wales for the second time in a week following the under 21s 2-1 defeat on Tuesday.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s men lost their opening league game 2-0 last Saturday to Ipswich Town at the idverde Training Ground, but there were positives to take from the performance and he is hoping to build on those when they face the Bluebirds.

“It is always development and performance over the result and if the performances are consistent, then the results will follow. We took a lot of positives from the game against Ipswich and hopefully we can put in a strong performance against Cardiff.

“A number of the squad were involved for the under 21s against Cardiff and that experience of playing in a stadium with supporters watching will be invaluable for their development. It is a big pitch that they played on, and I am sure they got a lot out of the experience.

“Hopefully, they have made sure they have had a good recovery and are looking to go again on Saturday morning. We welcome back Gabe Overton into our squad, and he will strengthen us. He has had a good few weeks, making his first team debut and scoring for the 21s so we are looking forward to having him with us.”

The game is free to attend if any Posh fans happen to find themselves close to the venue.
