Posh Under 18s suffer narrow defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the idverde Training Ground.
The Peterborough United Under 18s were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in Professional Development League action on Tuesday with the Owls a tad fortunate to escape with all three points after a glut of chances in the final third of the fixture.
It was a quiet first half to the game with Joel Odei-Larbi having the best opportunity for Posh, but his low shot was kept out by the legs of the goalkeeper.
Jake West made his first save of the contest five minutes before the interval after a sharp turn in the box.
Jimmy Unwin made three changes at the interval, two of them pre-planned, and one of those substitutes, Andre Changunda had a great chance to break the deadlock after good work from Tyler Winters, but he fired over from close-range.
Winters poked an effort wide on 63 minutes while West made a fine reaction stop with his legs at the other end to keep the scores level.
However, on 69 minutes, it was the Owls who broke the deadlock as the striker swept home from close-range.
Joe Davies was denied by the goalkeeper after a strong run on 78 minutes and moments later, Winters saw a curling shot kept out.
Davies fired wide of the far post with his left-foot moments later before a free-kick from Holley was flicked on by Winters, but Joseph Toynton couldn't react and the ball bounced into the arms of a grateful goalkeeper.
Posh: West, Freeman, Gilbert (sub Holley 46min), Unwin, Rose, Toynton, Kelmendi (sub Changunda 46min), Marcon, Winters, Beech (sub McWilliams-Marcano 65min), Odei-Larbi (sub Davies 46min). Unused sub: Sakalas.
