An eventful Professional Development League fixture between Posh under 21s and Wigan Athletic under 21s ended in a draw.
The Peterborough United under 21s were held by a determined Wigan Athletic at the idverde Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon following an eventful Professional Development league fixture which saw two own goals and two red cards.
The Latics created the first opportunity of the game through Chentouf, who saw a shot go wide of the near post after he had tricked his way into the penalty area. On 17 minutes, Posh found the breakthrough and it was Trialist B who did all the hard work down the right hand side, beating his man through a combination of skill and pace before his cross was turned past his own goalkeeper by the unfortunate James Carragher, son of former Liverpool full-back Jamie.
The Posh trialist between the sticks did well to tip over a fierce effort from Sharif on 20 minutes and he also saw a deflected free-kick go inches wide before Hisham Chiha let fly from distance at the other end, only to see the powerful drive go wide.
On 42 minutes, the visitors were reduced to 10-men as Reece Greenhaigh was dismissed for a high challenge on Aaron Powell. The visitors levelled the scores on 52 minutes as an in-swinging corner kick was headed past his own keeper by Chiha at the near post.
Jacob Wakeling and Roddy McGlinchey were both cautioned in a fiery second half, which also saw the visitors reduced to nine-men when Harrison Rimmer was shown a second yellow card. Harry Thomas headed wide, McGlinchey fired a half volley over the bar before Trialist C saw an effort cleared off the line.
Posh continued to push with Wakeling picking out Chiha at the back post, but his header went straight at the keeper and moments later the full-time whistle was blown.
