The Posh under 21s are back in action on Tuesday afternoon with a trip to Coventry City (2pm).
The Peterborough United under 21s return to Professional Development League action with a trip to the Coventry Building Society Arena to face Coventry City and are looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to Hull City at the Weston Homes Stadium in this last fixture.
The Sky Blues are currently ninth in the table with Posh occupy seventh position. Posh will be without the services of Kellan Hickinson due to an injury sustained in that defeat to the Tigers. Ryan Semple, Professional Development Phase Coach said: “Last week’s defeat was disappointing, not just the result, but aspects of some of the performance too, so we are looking to try and put in a positive performance and hopefully turn that into a victory.
“We conceded two bad goals against Hull. When we got a goal back, I felt that we would go on and get something from the game, we did okay, but we didn’t do enough to get anything. There were positives though, I thought the changes we made impacted the game and that is what you want, the substitutes to come on and influence proceedings.
“The players need to be ready. Particularly in under 21 football, there are going to be games where substitutes might come on at a certain point as first team players are on structured minutes. Whatever the line-up against Coventry, I am looking to see a strong performance.
“We are without Kellan due to injury. It is frustrating for him because he ha been out on-loan, played against Wigan and was looking to get a run of games, but it provides an opportunity for someone else,” Semple said.
