Ryan Semple’s side will make the short trip to Westwood Road on Tuesday evening (7:45pm), where they face St. Ives s in the midway mark of the pre-season programme.
Peterborough United Under 21s will look to build on the positives from the weekend encounter against Crystal Palace as Semple’s men take on their Southern League Premier Division Central opponents St Ives on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
Semple confirmed that his side will undergo some changes from the side featured in South London; it’s expected that two or three new faces will be tested in Posh colours, whilst several trialists have retained a spot in the squad due to commendable displays in earlier friendly matches.
The gaffer outlined his rapport with St Ives, and expressed the importance of not underestimating Tuesday’s challengers: “It will be a mix of the two [Under 18s and 21s] at St Ives, I have a good relationship with their manager, know him well and know the way in which they play; they will be aggressive, want to get after us and they’ll be looking to get fitness into their players in preparation for their season – it will be a proper test.”
He added: "We’re into our fifth week back now, [we’ve worked on] patterns with and without the ball as well as the fitness side of things so you want to see those come out in the game – also that element of building those relationships within the team.
"It’s important that the boys get an understanding with each other, and of course the trialists get an understanding of the boys that have been here longer to get some cohesion which can only help in a game, which is really important so we’ll be looking for that from the game."
The fixture will take place at The Quattro-Tech, PE27 6DT.
