The Posh under 21s face Desborough on Tuesday night in the quarter-final of the David Hillier Cup.
The Peterborough United under 21s are in action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) at Desborough in the David Hillier Cup with PDP Lead Coach Ryan Semple looking for his side to put on a strong performance ahead of a league fixture at Coventry City on Friday afternoon.
The clash at Desborough will allow Semple to utilise his squad, but he is determined for his side to put on a strong performance as the club look to progress into the semi-finals of the competition, which features clubs from across the county.
“With Friday in mind, we will manage the week with minutes in mind, but this is a competition that we want to win. We will be utilising the squad, which will include scholars and we want to put on a strong showing against a side that will also be looking to progress.
“It is a different kind of pressure; it is a knockout fixture. The boys have prepared for the game in the right way, we have watched the opposition recently so we know what to expect and the aim is to go there, apply ourselves in the right way and hopefully progress to the next round,” Semple said.
Lewis Darlington and David Kawa remain on the side-lines, while Ben Challinor suffered a serious ankle injury in training. A number of players are unavailable because they are in action for their local clubs, while some of the more experienced members of the squad are set to feature at Coventry later this week.
The game will take place at the SG Pathway Academy Arena.
