Posh under 21s are in action at Long Buckby on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
The Peterborough United under 21s open their Northants FA Hillier Cup account on Saturday afternoon with a first-round tie against Long Buckby with the tie taking place at Station Road (3pm) with Matthew Etherington’s side looking to bounce back after the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City in the Professional Development League earlier this week.
Etherington can call upon the services of Kellan Hickinson after suspension, but several players will be unavailable due to continued involvement for their loan clubs with Luke Harris and Andrew Oluwabori among them.
Defender Ashton Fox returns from injury, while Etherington has confirmed that a number of trialists will be involved in the squad. Etherington said: “It is a good game for us against a men’s side and it is an opportunity to put a few things right from the first half of the Cardiff game. I am sure it will be a physical test and the lads will have to match that.
“It is good to have Kellan back in the squad after suspension and it is a good chance to us to have a look at a few of the trialists. We have a busy schedule at the minute with two games next week to look forward too, so hopefully this can be the start of a positive seven days.”
