A penalty from Callum West settled this Under 21 clash at the idverde Training Ground as the Tyles take home the three points.

On another afternoon, the Peterborough United Under 21s would be taking home at least a point from their latest Professional Development League fixture at the idverde Training Ground but a poor decision in possession and a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal ultimately cost them as Barnsley secured a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a first half spot-kick from Callum West.

Posh created plenty of good opportunities throughout the 90 minutes, but a combination of wasteful finishing and decent saves from the Tykes goalkeeper prevented them from troubling the scorers.

WEST converted from the spot after a trip in the box to ultimately settle the encounter on a windy afternoon in Peterborough.

Eddie Fox headed wide from a Tyler Young corner kick and David Kamara headed over from a similar delivery from Young as Posh penned their visitors back for long periods.

Bastien Smith produced two fine saves, one at the death on the counter attack to thwart Ogbu and one to keep out Makiessi.

Patryk Sykut and Andre Changunda both fired wide after mazy runs while Ma'Kel Campbell sent two free-kicks off target from decent areas.

Substitute Lucca Mendonca had the last opportunity for Posh but he couldn't keep his header down from another good Young corner kick.

Posh Under 21s are next in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wigan Athletic.
