Peterborough United Women can confirm their fifth signing of the summer as Winger Lauren Wilshaw joins from Stoke City ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 19-year-old was on loan at fellow FAWNL Division One Midlands side Notts County last season where she netted once in 12 appearances.

Wilshaw had been at her childhood club Stoke City since 2017 and made her England U15s debut during her time with The Potters.

She made her First Team debut for the FAWNL Northern Premier Division (Step 3) side aged just 16 years-old during the 2021/22 season. She played nine times following a stellar campaign with the Reserves where she claimed six goals and eight assists in 17 appearances.

The following season she continued to turn out for both set-ups with a total of 21 appearances; netting five goals for the Reserves.

Wilshaw is excited about the season ahead: “I’m feeling positive about the move. It’s a club with high aspirations; we want to progress. I’ve been at my club Stoke since 2017 but it’s time for a change, and Posh have given me the opportunity to do that here. I’m familiar with Jake [Poole] from being at University of Nottingham last year.”

The teenager has already featured in both pre-season fixtures for the First Team so far and describes what fans should expect from her in the season ahead: “I’m a skilful player who always looks to take someone on. My end product is something I’m always looking to improve on, so I hope to claim more goals and assists this season.”

Manager Jake Poole is excited to have Wilshaw in the squad: “Lauren is one of the most naturally gifted footballers I’ve been fortunate to work with.”

“The fans will be on the edge of their seats watching her and she brings great professionalism and will to improve to the team and to training.”

General Manager Sam Winch added: “I’m really pleased to welcome Lauren as our newest signing. She brings even more pace and flair to the side, making her a formidable opponent for any defender.”

“Lauren is a tricky winger and is able to weave past defenders with ease and create scoring opportunities for us. Lauren’s addition to the team is sure to bring a new level of excitement to the supporters and I hope they can get down this Sunday to see more of Lauren and the rest of the squad.”
