Striker Gabe Overton (pictured above) netted a brace as the Posh under 21s progressed in the Hillier Cup on Tuesday evening.
The Peterborough Untied under 21s are through to the next stage of the Hillier Cup after a 2-0 victory at Desborough Town on Tuesday night.
Ryan Semple's men created numerous chances on the night, but were made to defend by their opponents for a spell after Aaron Powell was shown a straight red card.
OVERTON opened the scoring on the night with a fine individual strike, picking the ball up just inside the opponents half before tricking his way into the box and toe-poking the ball into the bottom corner.
OVERTON was in the right place at the right time to double the Posh lead after good work from Reuben Marshall.
Semple said: "Desborough were a threat from set-pieces and we warned the players of that before the game and in the first 10 minutes or so they made us defend. We got to grips with the game after that, scored two good goals particularly the first from Gabe.
"When we went down to 10-men, we had a 10-15 minute spell where we had a frantic period, but then we settled down and could have added more goals in counter-attacks.
"We are through to the next round and that was the aim ahead of the game. We await who we play in the next round."
